Coming "to town" Monday

So, my grandfather has another doctor’s appointment on Tuesday, so I’ll be coming down to the valley Monday night and staying through Tuesday afternoon at the earliest. Two movies opened today that I would like to see, Bringing Down the House and Love Liza. While BDtH is something I believe other people will be interested in seeing with me and playing at many more theatres, Love Liza is something I’ve been looking forward to a long time and am trying to make a priority to see when I’m in town. Unfortunately, Love Liza is playing exclusively at the Harkins Centerpoint in Tempe, far from where my father lives & where I will be staying Monday night. And, I’m not sure who else in the world would want to see it or be available. Esp. on a ‘school night’.

Anyway, I’ll hitchhike down to Tempe and watch the late show if I need to, but I’d much rather be able to share the experience with friend(s). And not just because they could drive me, but because as you may have noted I now live approximately 100 miles away from most of my friends. Ooh. Which reminds me. I need to ask you guys whether I know Zylon. Do I know Zylon? I mean, how many could there be, really? I just don’t have much memory with regards to people I haven’t been good friends/acquaintences with for years and years.

Okay. I’m going to … errr… Nothing. But somewhere, somehow I get the feeling that Edison is about to be working on the next New Comic right now…

^-^

Webcam up and … well, up

I can’t really say ‘up and running’, since it’s a virtual webcam. I’ve taken several shots of myself sitting at my desk & will be swapping them out at appropriate. Eventually I hope to have an actual webcam up, and to get as many ME authors set up with webcams and to create a whole ‘cam page’ for looking at the different people that contribute to ME. I’ll be giving Iain back his (non-mac-compatible) webcam the next time I see him, and maybe he’ll plug it in and set it up. Warpshadow has a webcam, just itching to be put online somewhere. We’ll see who else we can talk into it.

Oh yeah, to see the virtual webcam image for me, you have to actually have to look at the right-hand column of a FYTH page. It should be there. Everywhere.

Edison is an amazing creator

So, I was looking at some of Edison’s roughs for the next New Comic that he emailed me, and since it had been a while I went back and looked at the first two (1, 2) New Comics he did. It blew me out of the water. Well, figuratively. These are much better than the comics I’ve done. (So much better, I won’t even bother linking to the ones I did…) I mean, did you see the two shots of Baz’s legs in the stream? Such elaborate work.

I guess that’s why he emailed me this new work. Everything I’ve seen so far of the new work is drawn, not photographed. Maybe he just sent me part of it, but it’s definitely a change from the first two. Still, better than just about anything I’ve posted. I wonder if this is really what happened to him. I seriously hadn’t noticed Edison had been replaced by a stuffed monkey until I saw that second comic and then went and checked him out. I just thought he was being quiet.

Anyway, Ed says he’ll probably be posting the third New Comic early next week. I can’t wait to see it come together.

UPDATE: Links are fixed

Am I still awake?

Fuck.

Fuck.

Tomorrow morning I will be learning how to change the oil on the big, old diesel-powered backhoe we have up here. Did I forget to mention I got my first lesson in driving it the other day, pushing snow around a local church’s parking lot? Well, really we were just using the front end loader side of the thing. I’ll have to learn how to use the actual backhoe another day.

yet in another window I’m still updating all my Cafepress stores to reflect the presence of the new store. Despite what my last post may have lead you to believe, I am not actually done. yes, the products are in place, but … well, if you go take a look at the stores you’ll see the list of the stores’ names in the upper right hand corner of the part of the page I have any control over. And in order to create a uniform experience across all stores where you can add products from any store and still get to just about all the other stores, I have to go through every store and update the HTML. Not that bad, but what I’m doing now in another window.

Until it’s done, I say.

It’s supposed to be snowing another 2 to 4 inches of snow tonight, then maybe more tomorrow, but then the temperature is supposed to be up into the 60s by the weekend. Apparently there is some sort of additional shuffling or moving (via shovel or via backhoe or perhaps by hand, I do not know) that I’m supposed to be able to do soon to get the remaining snow to melt faster. I’m thinking of contructing a wood-gasifier and portable flame thrower from the spare parts and scrap and assorted other bits that have accumulated around here and just running around shooting fire at the snow. Clean-burning fire from a renewable source, of course.

Aha! i think i may be done in that other window. Now to go double-check the actual front-ends, and I can go to bed. Hooray for bed! I noticed a bit ago that my wood stove was cooling down and I thought it might need some more wood. It had cooled down earlier because ashes had managed to fall down completely blocking the only place air can get in to fuel the fire, and that was a mess to get going again, but as soon as it had air it started to heat up again. I checked the air-opening, and it seemed fine, so I grabbed a piece of wood to put in the stove. Now, something you don’t know about my wood stove is that the main opening for putting in fuel is in the top. Which means that when I reached out with my handkerchief-protected hand to open it and quickly drop the wood in I was expecting a face full of smoke. What I got was a face full of FLAME. I guess it was burning fine. i closed it fast enough not to get burned, and too fast to put the new wood in. I’ll try one last time before I land in bed, but if it’s shooting out fire again, I’ll just let it be.

Oh yeah. Featured products from the new store (ie: the ones that I think look especially nice with the SaveME logo & make good use of its black background):

The SaveME Wall Clock
The SaveME Black Cap
The SaveME Black Ski Cap
All three SaveME Stickers (1) (2) (3) – (3 is the bumper sticker)
The SaveME Lunch Box
The SaveME Coaster
The SaveME Flying Disc

Of course, all the products are wonderful. Take a look. I’m going to bed.

SaveME Buttons and merchandise!

Okay, this is all taking longer than I expected to put together. I tried working on it in the middle of the day today while I was straightening up my room and the uploads would just not upload. Erg. And then putting every new product in place & setting it up right … Anyway, there’s a whole set of new products available, and they all sport the fashionable “SaveME” logo. I’ve contacted Cafepress and I’m going to get in touch with my other screen printing contacts about prices, but if there’s demand I may do a run of Black T’s with the SaveME logo. Also, if I find it’s a reasonable thing to do and I get plenty of emails I may look into doing a run of black Flaming Squirrel T-Shirts. Tell me if you want one, even if you’re not sure you can afford one. I just need to get an idea, here.

Oh, the link to the store? http://www.cafepress.com/ME_SaveME/ Isn’t it wonderful?

Also, the button that should have appeared in the first paragraph is available to be put on your very own website! You can use one that links to the new store or one that links directly to Modern Evil’s Paypal donation page using the code below. Just copy and paste it into your own websites to help SaveME.
