I know… thousands of people do it all the time

I was about to brush my teeth and go to sleep, and I thought that maybe I should put on a CD to listen to while brushing, flossing, then trying to sleep. I knew it was late already, but I had a CD in mind, and I wasn’t really feeling tired yet. Then as I was looking through my collection of over 400 cds, some hundred or more I never listen to at all, several titles caught my eye and put a song in my ear. There was only a song or two on the album I was looking for that made me want to grab it (although with this one I normally listen to the whole thing), and I thought to myself that it sure was too bad that I couldn’t just put one track from this other album on that one…

Wait. I can.

Love Cruise – Why am I watching this again?

Watching the first episode of Love Cruise on Fox. Another “reality game show” where the object of the game is to try to find a good match while trying to prevent anyone else from being happy in love. Eight women, eight men, all considered “attractive”, all competing for affection from each other for two weeks. Of the eight women, I would not even approach five of them – at first glance only three of them seem like worthwhile people (in my opinion). One of the three caught my attention immediately – I found her particularly attractive even before she opened her mouth. Then within a few minutes I learned more about her as a person than anyone else on the boat, which may say something about the depth of character of the others, and she just became more and more attractive to me. Then, after three guys turned her down in just a couple of minutes and she was “forced” to be with what may be the only respectable guy on the boat (my opinion again) she confided in the audience that she expected it, since she has been considered unattractive all her life. I guess some boys took up barking at her when she was a girl, implying that she was a dog, then her husband divorced her, and her self esteem hasn’t finished recovering yet.

A horse of a different color

So, her statements of what different colors remind her of do much to remind me of her. Some of them are very endearing and poetic. If you don’t know who liquidmercurial is, the whole thing is probably meaningless to you, but if you knew her, maybe this list will remind you of why you liked to be near her. Maybe it will make you think about what different colors mean to you, too.

New – More calendar stuff!

Today I finally broke down and set up an Excel spreadsheet that calculates the date on my calendar from any date on the old calendar (that many of you still use). If you have Excel 2000, you can download the spreadsheet, but I recommend that you use this handy web interface. This can help you to see the relationship between the two calendars, and look up birthdays and anniversaries to keep track of on the calenders I already provided (here for this year, and here for next year).

Let me know if you have any questions about this. I’m glad to explain anything you like about my calendar.

Money money money money. Money.

So, if I can keep living in the same place, for the same amount of rent for the next several years, and I cancel my cable TV, and cut back my phone’s minutes, and don’t ever get internet access at home, and continue to not go to the movies, and continue not to go out to eat very often, and my utilities don’t skyrocket, and keep my job with Realink, I can theoretically pay back my debt at about $650/month. If tech support continues to get a bonus, I’ll even have a little spending money in the meantime. At that rate, with interest calculated approximately, if I don’t add to my debt, I should have all of my debt paid off by March, 2004.

With raises, maybe a little bit faster. With unexpected expenses, maybe a little bit slower. Some people ask me why I choose to spend most of my time by myself at home. I really can’t afford to do much else.
