Attacking my clone

Edison and I went to see Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones last night (many other people happenned to show up and join us, most unexpectedly). We’re going to work on a review and try to have it up as soon as possible. Hopefully, worst possible case, we’ll do it during Sunday night TV and you’ll see it late Sunday night/early Monday morning.

Still, for those of you trying to decide whether to see it this weekend, the critics aren’t far off; if you are a big Star Wars fan, this is a must-see movie. If you are even a little bit of a fan (ie: have seen all four other movies, maybe a couple of times each, over the last 25 years, and liked at least 2 of them), this movie is worth seeing in a theatre, preferably with an excited crowd (ie: opening weekend crowd). If you have never heard of Star Wars before, or have only learned of its existence because of the hype surrounding this movie, or even Episode I, you may find yourself confused/bored/uninterested in the first 90 minutes or so of this movie, though even you will likely enjoy all the excitement/battles in the last 45 minutes. Finally, if you loathe Star Wars with a vehemence that could freeze the three suns of Tatooine or melt the ice on Hoth (for instance), then you’ve probably already seen this movie so you could tear it apart and posted your own little “review” online by now.

Okay. I’ll try not to repeat myself too much when discussing the film with Edison later, but … I haven’t asked him what he thought yet.

Felicity is driving me crazy

Since the first season of Felicity, I have believed that Felicity should have chosen Noel over Ben. Yet every year she chooses Ben. She just keeps going back to him and back to him. In fact, a few shows ago they ended the entire story with her ending up with Ben and going back into Pre-Med after all, and it upset me greatly. Except that I knew that the next four episodes involved Felicity being sent back in time to choose Noel. So everything was going to turn out alright, right?

NO! She went back in time and screwed everything up! Sean and Megan split up and may not get back together, Felicity keeps behaving as though she still wants to be with Ben, and long-forgotten characters keep appearing out of knowhere and throwing a wrench into the gears. Then, in the scenes from next week’s two-hour Series finale, we see Noel trapped in a fire (a fire he saved Felicity from the first time around, by the way), and then Felicity telling Ben that Noel is dead. Noel is dead?!?!?!!!

I thought the writers and producers of Felicity were going to take this very clever opportunity and wrap the show up to please both sides of the audience; she ends up with Ben in one timeline and she ends up with Noel in the other. If Noel actually ends up dead, and worse if Felicity ends up with Ben again, this will have been the worst possible alternate timeline she could have created.

As far as I’m concerned, anyway. Like I said, I thought she should have just stayed with Noel from the start.

Apocalypse Drinking game

Now here’s the drinking game for me (courtesy The Brunching Shuttlecocks):

The Apocalypse Drinking Game!

With rules like

If the righteous ascend into heaven while the sinful remain on the Earth to face the tribulations of Satan, take a drink.

If four horsemen ride out, and the fourth rides a pale horse, and the name of that who sits on on the horse is Death, take a drink.

If the sun is blackened as a sackcloth of hair, take a drink.

If the moon becomes the color of blood, take a drink.

If the stars of heaven fall unto the earth, take a drink.

I can hardly wait to start playing!

Stupid dinosaurs!

So, I was misaken last night when I thought I had taped the last two hours of the Dinotopia miniseries. As it turns out, I was merely taping the middle two hours. There are two hours remaining to record tonight, which means that I have to watch my normal shows during that time period. We’re talking about the last episode of Roswell, here. And it looks like Tara dies and Willow decides to become a vengence demon after all. How can I miss it? What am I doing sitting here, when I should be at my typewriter? Will Batmen be able to escape Catwoman’s sexy clutches?

Tune in next time to find out!

Renewal

So, I just took a nice little walk down to the rental agency now handling the lease on the house I live in. There, I filled out the form to request that my lease be renewed for another year. The current lease ends 6/30/2002, so I knew that within the next 15 days or so I would be receiving notice that I would have to renew or leave, and how more much they expected me to pay to stay. I decided that this year I would pre-empt them. Partially because I wanted to ask to be able to paint the interior walls of the house, and the current lease says I’m not allowed to. Partially because since moving to Tempe I haven’t lived anywhere longer than about a year, and I really like it here, and unless they raise the rent an insane amount, I’ll still be able to afford it, with or without Angela paying half. So, now I’m going to go program the VCR to tape TV for me while I write, write, write. Yep. That’s what I’m going to do.
