Let’s time it this time. Let’s see how long it takes from conceptualization to completion. I started brainstorming and sketching a new way of putting together all the pages of ME about 10:15 tonight, so I’m going to change the date/time of this post to match the beginning of what will be v4.5 of Modern Evil. Then after I am satisfied that I’ve got it all coded and working and in place, I’ll post again and we can see how long it was. Depending on how effeciently my brain is working right now and how fast I can overcome outstanding problems, I may make more posts in between. I’ll label them so you can keep track. Hopefully this will all work out great in the end.

Oh, and hopefully there won’t be any more problems with comments or site-building with the new version.

I’ve just spent the last two and a half hours working on trying to make sure the comments system in all the different parts of Modern Evil are working properly. I’ll be working on it for another while longer, too. I believe I have resolved all comments-related problems though, and if you have any more comment-making related problems, please email me! teel@modernevil.com Please! I want the site to work, guys!

Update:

I was wrong. I did figure out what I can do to resolve the problem, but it disables a fair amount of Modern Evil’s functionality. I will see what I can do, but still, please report when you see errors or have problems or things don’t seem to be working correctly.

Okay, so I just got two fun emails in a row from automated systems. If only I had friends to send me emails half as fun as the ones computers send me automatically… Anyway, here’s a handy hint for those of you making chocolate-based holiday recipes:

“You can replace up to three-quarters of the shortening in chocolaty recipes with a puree of dried plums. The puree will add a dense, fudge-like texture to recipes and works especially well with chocolate. What’s more, dried plums, or prunes, are an excellent source of boron and fiber.”

Now, other than the fact that I liked prunes anyway, I’m wondering if boron is actually something I want to eat. Or maybe I’m thinking of something else…

So, since I posted my resume all over the internet and signed up to have new job postings from several sites emailed to me as soon as possible, I’ve been getting email just about every day with every job listed everywhere in GMPhoenix. Some sites are more clever than others about what jobs they send me. Here is an example from an email I just received from a site I don’t remember ever visiting:

A little more on Invader Zim. So, after watching the XMas special, I downloaded The Doom Song. For those of you unfamiliar with The Doom Song, I’m not sure I can convey it to you fully, but imagine Gir (if you cannot imagine Gir, give up hope of understanding) and Zim on their way to Earth for the first time. As soon as they leave the Urkin homeworld, Gir says “I’m gonna sing The Doom Song!” and then basically sings as you would expect Gir to sing, a song consisting entirely of the word “Doom” repeated over and over to a tune only Gir could have made up. The scene goes black for a moment and then comes back up, saying “Six months later” and Zim is looking very bored and very frustrated and Gir has not yet stopped singing. Zim says “Will you pleeease stop singing?”, then the computer announces that they are approaching Earth, and Gir finally reaches the end of his song.

Now, on TV this whole sequence took up only about 32 seconds. When I say I downloaded The Doom Song, I mean I downloaded a 32 second .mp3 file that consists of this scene. I have it on repeat. I have had it on repeat since last night when I downloaded it. Now, Zim became annoyed with Gir’s singing, but I’m here to tell you that in listening to what I have of The Doom Song over and over again, it is not Gir that annoys me, but Zim. Him and his computer keep talking over Gir’s rendition of The Doom Song. I think that without Zim’s voice, I could listen to The Doom Song for six months, no problem.
