“Build a man a fire and he will be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.”
-My friend Edward
Also, I bought a “new” Underwood portable manual typewriter at the thrift store today. It is in good condition, and the ribbon seems to have been recently re-inked. All the keys work, the carriage return is strong, and it’s … GREEN. $4. Amazing. Probably circa early or mid-50’s. I’ll look it up another time. I’m still writing my novel on my Smith-Corona, though. It isn’t good to switch machines mid-flow.
So, I gave that quote to a bunch of friends, and one of them replied, gloating how it said nothing about lighting women on fire, so I developed this quote:
“Build a woman a fire, and she will bitch about how it isn’t warm enough for her. Set a woman on fire, and she will scream about how she is too warm for the rest of her life. Geez, you just can’t please women!”
Its just a joke tho 🙂
