Obligations and repurcussions

I’ve just realised (actually about 15 minutes ago) that I forgot to go in and pay my rent the other day. I don’t recall if there is supposed to be a fee or a problem or an evicion or whatever for being a couple of days late, but i DO know that they often don’t bother processing the checks until the 7th or 11th of the month anyway (making my checkbook balances look unreliably weird for a week or so at the beginning of every month), so perhaps it will not be an issue. Then again, maybe their lateness is somehow related to waiting until the last check comes in from their renters. Or since the people I gave the check to are a management company, maybe they sign it over to the actual owner and that takes time, or … I don;t know what, but I’m going to their office today, straight after work, to pay rent and whatever fees they instruct me to pay.

Sometimes I hate being absent-minded. I guess I’ve just gotten too used to having everything coming automatically out of my account every month (Gas, Electric, water, cable, phone, and one of my loans all deduct automatically on their due dates. All I have to do is have the money in the account). I’ll try to do better next time. Heck, if I can get this Apple Loan paid off on time, I’ll be able to maybe get a month ahead on my rent. (Unless they raise it when the lease is up in a couple of months.)

I’ll comment on this later when I find out what happens. I called them, but just got VM & left a message apologizing and informing of my plan. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

  1. So, I don’t know whether they’re just used to people bringin in checks late, or whether they know who I was from my message, but they didn’t say word one about the lateness of my check.

    And neither did I.
