I’m going to go ahead and apply for a home loan and see if I can find a house to buy. It looks like I can only afford about $100,000, though. I don’t know whether I’ll be able to locate a home in this area for that little. Suck.
The paperwork I’m supposed to bring with me to a meeting to apply for the loan on Wednesday (The following is as much for my own reference as anything else) is:
W2’s for 1999 and 2000.
Pay stubs for at least one month.
Statements from all accounts for at least two months
Checking, Savings, Line of Credit, Loan – Desert Schools
Visa Classic – Desert Schools
Mastercard – Fleet
Discover Platinum – Discover
Loan for Couches – American General Finance
Most recent Quarterly statement for any securities or investments
I will be meeting with someone named Joey@12:30, and because I still don’t drive, Iain has agreed to drive me over there on lunch. Over there being 16th St. and Glendale in Phoenix. So, good luck with that.
Now, is there actually a home in the area I want to live in in the price range that I can afford? I don’t know. I guess I’ll take a look.
I can’t find my W2s for 1999. I have a copy of my taxes for 1999 and 2000, and I have my W2s for 2000. I also found my tax forms and W2’s for 1997 and 1998, and I will be keeping them all together from this point forward. Hopefully, they will be able to work from what I have.
I have pay stubs from the last two, maybe three months just sitting out on my desk at work (this is a lie; I have the most recent one always with me in my backpack, in case I am looking at a house to rent one day and I need to produce forms and proof of employment and … whatever to ensure that whatever wonderful house I have just found can be mine), so I’ll just grab them from there.
I have located my bank statements for March and April. My bank’s statement period has closed for May already, and it has probably been mailed, but I have not yet received it. If it arrives tomorrow, I will bring it along.
I have the last two Visa statements from Desert Schools. I have the last two MC statements from Fleet. My name is not officially on the Discover card account, I suppose, since they did not seem to be aware of it (though they mentioned every other account.) I have .. a statment from American General Finance, I’m sure. Nothing current, but … That one is nearly paid off. I’ll see what I can find. Finally, I have E-Trade’s most recent statment concerning my investment in Apple (which is very nearly back up to the value I purchased it at (prematurely, of course)).
On another note, I am expecting a call from the woman representing the rental property that is in the neighborhood I want, and is only $725/month for a 2bedroom 1bathdetached single family home. She will have more details and I mentioned to her that I was keenly interested in W/D hookups, so… hopefully I will be able to call Joey (or someone) tomorrow night and cancel the meeting. I have a very distinct feeling that I cannot currently afford the home I want, in the area I want to live in. I think I will be able to pay off all my outstanding debts in the course of a year (or two) while I am renting, and as I said before, will then be better able (financially as well as emotionally) to decide about buying a house.
We shall see. What will be, will be. Praise the lord for the opportunities that have arisen. He is truly an awesome God, and worthy of all praise.
