A new movie to look forward to
So, I’m still not sure what this link had to do with the site I was on, but I went ahead and clicked anyway. I think you should too.
http://www.vampirelesbiankickboxers.com/
People who have followed that (worksafe) link have had the following to say:
“Ah, the classic story retold.”
“Oh good god”
and
“I’m getting too old for this vampire lesbian kickboxing shit”
Poor communication of the problem
Why is it that when people call technical support, they sometimes (oftten) explain in detail what was working, how it was working, what they liked about it working, before ever mentioning that they have a problem now or what the problem might be? I don’t usually care about what it was doing when it was working fine; I usually know exactly how it was working when it was working fine! I want the customer to tell me what the problem is, so I can explain the solution to them and help the next customer. I don’t want to sit on the phone with the customer for 45 minutes because they couldn’t tell me what the problem was within ten minutes, and then didn’t believe that my solution would work and need to spend twenty minutes verifying that whet we walked through fixing in two minutes works to their satisfaction.
(Also, I am right now speaking to a person who spelled out “dot” when saving a file with an extension. So instead of .pdf, he was putting .dotpdf. How clever!)
Of course, worse are the customers who aren’t interested in anything i have to say because they have their own explanation for what is going wrong. Why did they call me in the first place? What do they expect me to do? Tell them that their incorrect assumptions are true? Leave them with non-functioning software? Somehow magically make it possible for them to use the software incorrectly and it to work at the same time? Aargh!
Harry Potter
Me and my friends (this means you) are going to go see Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at the Harkins Centerpoint 11 Luxury Cinemas in downtown Tempe at 4:50PM on Friday November 16th, 2001. Tickets can be purchased in advance through moviefone.com or from the Harkins Centerpoint box office at any time between now and the showing, though there is certainly the possibility that they will sell out at this matinee showtime, so try to get your tickets before the day of the show.
Whether you’ve read the books or not, whether you’re young or old, I think you’ll be able to enjoy this movie. If you haven’t read the book and would like to, I can lend the book to you so you can get it read before you see the movie. I think this will only make the movie more amazing because of how true to the books it remains. Either way, I hope to see you there!
The Internet is expensive
I have just worked out for the first time exactly how much all my web stuff costs me. Right now, all the services I’m paying for for the four domains I own (modernevil.com, fuckyourselftohell.com, fleevilspot.com, and monkeymonkeymonkeymonkeymonkeymonkeymonkeymonkey.com), including registration fees and hosting and related services through Easyspace.com cost me $308/year to continue renewing. Since I bought different services and domains at different times, I have never had to pay this much at once, though I did pay $195 for hosting of all these sites from May ’01 – May ’02, and will have to pay at least as much again when that runs out.
Right now I am not paying for any internet access, but even if I went with 56k, I’d have to pay for the phone line too, bring the cost of internet access to a healthy $40/month no matter what option I go with (and the options are dwindling). Forty dollars a month is another $480/year, which would bring my total expense on internet-related services to $788/year.
