That Sleep thing you do

So I’m thinking that in light of the upcoming party and moving tragedies, I will probably not be able to effectively begin the new sleeping schedule I want until after I move. Last night I slept from about 6 to a little before 10, then went and did strength training (for the first time in over 6 weeks), and when I got home I was so sore/tired that I found myself unable to be very productive. I ate supper and watched some TV I like to watch, and did some ironing while watching a weird independent movie, but I ran out of television to watch & decided to finish the ironing today. I also tried sweeping the kitchen, with the aspiration of mopping it as well, but found that my arms were too sore to even sweep effectively. So, a little after 3, I went back to bed and got a couple more hours of sleep.

I always feel that if I can function normally on 4 or 5 hours of sleep, that getting 7 or 8 hours of sleep should offer some additional benefit over the mere 4 or 5 hours that I normally get. I also feel like all the extra sleep I get on the weekends (I seem to sleep till 12:45 or so on Sundays, which on a recent weekend still meant only 5 hours of sleep) should have some positive effect, but I’m always tired again at 9 at night, which seems WAY too early to me.

Still, I’ve been programming myself to run on about 5 hours of sleep, and I’m hoping before too long to be able to implement that period when I get home from work instead of later. Maybe make use of the night a little more effectively.

The idea of clean

So many of the things that have to be done in order to have a party are just normal things that in a normal household would be done regularly as a part of regular cleaning. Some of it is not, like buying extra food and drinks and cheese for expected guests. If my roommates and I would maintain a reasonable level of cleanliness, very little preparation would need to be done in order to have guests over for a get-together.

Getting ready for the party

So, Iain and I have a shopping list/checklist of sorts on the whiteboard at the house, so we don’t forget to buy things like Propane and meat for the barbecue portion of the party, but some of the things on the list are vague like “Clean” I’m going to put a more specific list here, in case I don’t remember to bring the post-it I wrote the list on home with me. You probably don’t care.

Time is (not) time again

Today seems to be going by very quickly. I (intentionally) didn’t get much sleep last night, and this morning seems to have walked past me in a haze. I noticed that I had got to the last glass of my first half-gallon without going to the bathroom, then remembered getting up to go to the bathroom just moments before. I could not remember more than the first few steps of the trip, and then only because I stopped to say hello to someone. Like, I didn’t really get up, but the memory of it has been planted in my head so that when I try to think back, it is there. Doesn’t worry me that this might be true; just another little quirk of the world I’m immersed in.

I’m thinking of taking up sleeping from when I get home until 10 or 11 at night, then using the whole of the night to get things done. To get things done, I will need to make a list or something; my memory and motivation seem not to do the trick.
